Heroes For Hope Scholarship

This Scholarship is available to all Luxemburg-Casco High School graduating students seeking a post-graduate degree. The purpose of this scholarship is to deputize you as a mental health warrior who will assist a fellow student with their depression and/or signs of suicidality. It might mean you give them a compassionate ear to listen to and validate what burdens them. It might mean that you facilitate their ride to the Emergency Room. Or, it might mean that you stay with them while they call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hot Line while a worker on the other side of the call finds the right resources for your friend. All circumstances of despair are different, and we hope you can offer peer assistance when given the opportunity. We are all vulnerable to opposing forces in the environments in which we live. Through your experience outlined below, you are empowered to save a life.

4. We believe that hard times come to everyone because this is just a normal part of life. What would you do specifically if you got to college/trade school and got depressed or anxious? What is your specific plan to keep yourself safe?

5. Three out of four young people that have taken their own life have told at least one peer or friend that they are struggling mentally. What exactly would you do for a friend if they came to you with this sort of struggle?
